Michigan-made horror movie “Elder Island” (Monkey Knuckle Films) is now an Amazon Prime video. Released through Midnight Releasing for worldwide distribution last week, it is also available to download through iTunes, VUDU, Vimeo, YouTube, X-Box, Playstation, Flixfling and Vubiquity .
Inspired by true events surrounding the murder of Mormon sect leader James Jesse Strang, who settled on Beaver Island in 1848. Darrin James independently produced feature-length horror movie “Elder Island” depicts a professor and documentary film crew who have come to the island to investigate strange deaths and disappearances. Shortly after their arrival, they find themselves in danger of falling victim to the Strang’s reign of revenge.
Filmed in Brighton, Royal Oak, Livonia and Ferndale, Michigan, “Elder Island” features a cast and crew almost entirely from Michigan, including Danny Hicks (”Evil Dead 2”), Timothy Quill (”Army of Darkness”) and Donavan Darius (”Dog Eat Dog”) Melissa Anschutz (Bestseller, Ashes of Eden).
