It has been ten years since Michael McCallum’s feature film, “Handlebar” was released. Where does time go? This coming Sunday, this Michael McCallum feature will show at The Robin Theatre, 1105 S Washington Ave, REO Town, Lansing, Michigan. Showtime is from 7-10 PM.
Coming in at just over an hour in length, “Handlebar” was the story of Dwayne and Benny two low-level, bungling thieves that are hired by an inner-city mafioso to kidnap a rival’s daughter. Instead, they make the biggest mistake possible: taking the boss’s daughter.
On the same bill is Rebel Pictures’ short comedy, “The Pewter Bros.,” which will open the show.
There will also be a Q&A with Michael’s father, and star of Rebel Pictures’ award-winning feature film, “Buffalo,” William C. McCallum, and Michael, himself.
Local writer and film enthusiast, Mary Cusack will also be present for questions.
Local artist, Dennis Preston, will also be doing caricatures after the films! He created the wonderful movie poster to “Handlebar”!
It‘s crazy to think this dark comedy was released 10 years ago.
“We hope to see you celebrate this Michigan made film and the second award-winning feature from Rebel Pictures!”
With the 23 films that Rebel Pictures has made they have won 125 major awards, been nominated for 120 other major awards and been accepted into 272 film festivals internationally!
McCallum was honored to receive the “Michigan Independent Filmmaker Of the Year Award 2012” by the Uptown Film Festival in Detroit.
