The principal filming of Tevis Mercum’s “Tale of Tails” has wrapped. This according to a Facebook post which appeared on Marcum’s profile page, August 24, 2020. After 29 days, this post marked the completion of the filming of season 1, an 8 episode series which will be looking for a TV station once it finishes post-production. Cast and crew celebrated complete with a cake.
Tevis R. Marcum is a Sag-Aftra actor from Ann Arbor known for A Parent’s Worst Nightmare (2019), Boyne Falls (2018), The Shade Shepherd (2019), and War Flowers (2012), He can now add producer to his resume. “Tale of Tails” is Marcum’s first film as a producer. Also, in this series for all eight episodes, he appears as the character, Roadie.
Directed by award-winning director, Harley Wallen, Wallen accounts for how he was approached by Marcum. “First and foremost I’d like to thank Tevis Marcum for coming to me with his idea that he’s been working and tweaking for years and his story that ignited this whole thing!” Harley Wallen is managed by Joe Williamson of The Williamson Management Company,
Sparked by Marcum, writer/producer Steve Kopera fleshed out 7 episodes as a credited writer. He also was producer, production manager, and editor for this production (Kopera and Marcum worked together on Boyne Falls, a production that Kopera both wrote and directed.) And Harley Wallen co-wrote five episodes.
“Tale of Tails” is the story of a Tails a not white-collar gentlemen’s club. A borderline-legal bar with topless dancers and a back room where anything goes for the right price, Nick, the owner, keeps Tails afloat by taking advantage of the desperate women who dance for money and the desperate men who pay for female attention. When a dead body shows up in the bathroom, Nick’s control begins to unravel. Hunted by an ambitious, relentless cop, Nick’s enemies begin to surround him. He must decide how many friends to sacrifice in order to save himself!
“Tale of Tails” stars Jerry Hayes, Grover McCants, Lyn Jovie, Brett Stanfield, Jimmie Chiappelli, and Jessika Johnson McGaffigan. “Tale of Tails” guest stars include Richard Tyson, Yan Birch, Blanca Blanco, Daron Cruickshank, Mike Emery & Jesi Jensen. This stellar cast is rounded out by many actors from the Michigan film community.
The crew was lead by Alex Gasparetto (who is credited with the cinematography for much of the series); Joseph Victor is credited for setting the mood on the set and juggling all kinds of things. Kaiti Wallén ran a big part of this production as production manager.
Michael Hamilton and Courtney Hamilton VanLoo provided use of the building in which Tale of Tails was filmed and served as hosts at Tails and helping us make this come to life.
The film is officially in post-production.
