It’s been a good run, it’s been a long run.  Susan Stack has announced that she and Eric Szczepanski have decided to retire the CreativeMich brand.  Before that, she published the “Oakland Wrap” a subsciption based weekly which she published during and for a while after Michigan”s film incentives were a thing.

Distributing news headlines in a subscription available format on Michigan’s creative community since August 22, 2015 (on Facebook),  Susan and Eric after some discussion thought the time to retire the brand is now.

As well as covering headlines being a weekly e-digest for Michigan’s creative community every Tuesday!  #CreativeMich offered updates on Events, Call for Entries Deadlines, and had partnered with DEEP FOCUS REVIEW, Creative Many Michigan Michigan Film & Digital Media Office, West Michigan Film Office Michigan Production Alliance
, and MMM 2.0 Weekender to do so.

Said Susan, “Eric and I decided to end Creative Mich. He’s working, is on the Fenton Fine Arts Board and is getting married soon.  I’m no longer involved with Michigan production, so we thought this was a good time to end it. ”

Susan has been in the Chicago area since last summer.  She teaches Cinema Appreciationat Triton College in River Grove.  Said she in an email communique, February 3, 2019 ” Hoping to pick up full time or part time status at a local college this fall. I’m also learning to teach online courses.”

Continued Susan, “I got my Masters through Tiffin University online, so I have some experience with online courses. There are plusses (flexibility for the students, money maker for the university) and minuses (isolation, ineffective instructors) among other issues. It’s really an art form, and needs more focus. I teach a hybrid course. We meet in class twice a week and supplement with online content. I’m hoping to work with an established program like Purdue Online (formerly Kaplan) and grow with their support. But I don’t want to give up my classroom. I like the interaction with the students. ”

#CreativeMich was a proud 2016 promotional sponsor of: ArtPrize, Capital City Film Festival, SocialMitten, and Music on the Muskegon.

Although offered an opportunity to have someone else continue the publication, she declined.

We will miss you Susan and Eric.  We wish you every success.
